All stores in the failed Dick Smith chain will shut their doors for the last time by April 30, with receivers announcing a timetable for closures and staff redundancies.

Dick Smith’s 363 Australian and New Zealand bricks and mortar stores are shutting down for good after the company went into receivership in January with debts of about $400 million.

Receivers and managers to Dick Smith, Ferrier Hodgson, said they had notified 35 stores in Australia and New Zealand of their exact closure date.

“Where possible, affected staff will be redeployed to nearby Dick Smith stores while others will receive redundancy notices if redeployment is not possible,” receiver James Stewart said.

“The receivers anticipate that the remaining stores will be closed by 30 April, although employees will only be given notice of termination once the exact date of their store closure is known.”

Mr Stewart said all Australian employee entitlements were expected to be paid in full and New Zealand employees who are made redundant are expected to be paid in full up to a maximum of $NZ22,160 ($A19,877.11) under New Zealand law.

Australian online retail giant Kogan.com will take control of Dick Smith’s Australian and New Zealand online business from June 1.
