Matt Damon and his Jason Bourne co-star Alicia Vikander will jet into Sydney for the premiere of the action sequel next month.
Damon will reprise his role as Bourne for the fourth time, although his last outing was nearly 10 years’ ago in 2007’s The Bourne Ultimatum.
The actor reportedly had no intention of playing the undercover government agent again, and in 2012 the part was taken over by actor Jeremy Renner in The Bourne Legacy.
However, it seems Damon found it hard to shake off the tenacious character.
“Every airport I’m in or every time I’m walking down a street and somebody stops me, that’s the first question: are you going to do another one of those Bourne movies,” Damon said last month in a promotional video for the new movie.
Paul Greengrass, who directed The Bourne Supremacy (2004) and The Bourne Ultimatum (2007), has also returned for this new addition to the franchise, which revolves around a hacking plot that bears some similarities to the real-life case of US whistleblower Edward Snowden.
Actress Julia Stiles also makes her return to the series after nearly a 10-year break from playing the character Nicky Parsons.
Damon will step out on the red carpet in Sydney on July 3 alongside Bourne newcomer, Oscar-winner Vikander.
